BREAKING! Former Oyo State Governor Alao-Akala Dies in His Sleep


This is authoritative! Former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala is dead.

He died early this morning in Ibadan, in his sleep, according to close family sources.

WESTERN POST learnt that the former governor returned to Ibadan yesterday after a trip to Abuja over All Progressives Congress issues.

He was said to have died in his sleep. But this newspaper learnt that family members, who discovered he did not reach out to them as usual in the morning, forced their way into his bedroom where found him lifeless.

They later took him to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The late Alao-Akala had been battling health-related issues for sometimes now.

Otunba Alao-Akala was first deputy governor to former Governor Rashid Ladoga in 2003. He later took over the rein of the state following the controversial impeachment of Governor Ladoga.

The impeachment was declared illegal and Ladoja reinstated as governor by which time Alao-Akala had snatched their Peoples Democratic Party ticket to contest the governorship election

He contested and won the election in 2007. He did one term in office but failed to win re-election.
