Former Commissioner for Works, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, has stepped down for MD of Lagos Property Development Corporation (LSPDC), Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, who appears to be the anointed candidate of the APC leaders in Lagos.
Hamzat was the candidate of the Justice Forum while Sanwo-Olu is the preferred candidate of the National leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, representing the Mandate Group. Both groups are the major political blocs in the Lagos State chapter of the APC.
Hamzat officially stepped down at a press conference this morning after a visit to the Ikoyi, Lagos residence of Sanwo-Olu. Party leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
This development may further put more pressure on incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who appears to have lost favour with the APC top leadership.
WESTERN POST had reported exclusively on Friday night that Hamzat was set to step down for Sanwoolu to bolster the latter’s chances in the race.
Embattled Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had insisted he would run the race despite his falling out of favour with the establishment in the state and APC leaders including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
