It’s official! Lagos State Rapid Response Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ASP Olatunji Disu, has been transferred out of Lagos.
WESTERN POST learned Disu has already received the transfer signal to proceed to Abuja.
The movement to Abuja, according to police force sources, is the first step to a further transfer up North.
Details of the circumstances of the transfer were still sketchy on Thursday.
But WP understood that contrary to the impression that Disu’s transfer was from the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu, it emerged that it’s actually Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu who sought the movement.
Sources said the governor’s argument is that Disu is not combative enough, that criminals in Lagos have become so sophisticated and the state requires a tougher and more rugged RRS Commander.
However, this is said to be a smokescreen for the real reason for the transfer, which is believed to be politically-motivated.
The sources added that the state’s Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu may be next on the transfer list.
