Tragedy has hit Lagos as a top traditional ruler, the monarch of Oworonsoki Kingdom, Oba Bashir Oloruntoyin Saliu, is dead. He died early Tuesday morning in London.
News of his demise was scanty early Tuesday morning. One of his close associates who broke the news to WESTERN POST pleaded not to be named, saying the family would soon make a formal announcement on the transition.
Oba Saliu had been ill for a while. He was in London for medical treatment where he breathed his last.
The monarch, the Elebo of Oworonsoki, reigned over Oworonsoki in Kosofe Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).
He was a member of the Lagos Council of Obas and Chiefs and Chairman Kosofe Council of Obas.
The son of the royal father is the deputy chairman of Kosofe LCDA.
