The Lagos State Government has withdrawn charges against lewd music singer Naira Marley, and former governorship candidate in the 2019 election, Dr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife for attending actress Funke Akindele’s party for her husband JJC Skillz during the coronavirus lockdown.
This means the trio had escaped punishment for the offence in contrast with actress Akindele who was convicted and slammed with 14 days community service.
The trio were arrested and detained on Tuesday over the party held by the actress in celebration of her husband’s 43rd birthday. The party was held at the couple’s Amen Estate home in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
But when the trio of Marley, Gbadamosi and his wife arrived the court on Wednesday after, the Director of Public Prosecution in Lagos said the state government was withdrawing the case.
The government, however, gave the trio three conditions which they must fulfill and which they all agreed to. One is that they would tender an apology to the government for violating the lockdown and two, observe a 14-day self-isolation.
Akindele, on her part, had earlier been convicted of violating the lockdown and slammed with a 14-day community service and also to observe self-isolation for two weeks.
