The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the dates for the impending governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states in the South-west.
INEC fixed July 14, 2018 for the Ekiti poll and September 22, 2018 for Osun election.
Commencement date of campaigns for Ekiti governorship poll is April 15, 2018 while that of Osun is June 24, 2018.
The governorship election in the two states do not follow most of other governorship elections across the states of the federation because of the changes in the inauguration of the states’chief executives following long court battles.
In Ekiti, the atmosphere for the forthcoming had been animated following the recent adoption of the deputy governor, Prof. Ishola for the election by Governor Ayo Fayose as the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate.
In both Ekiti and Osun states, the governorship battle promises to be titanic between the two major parties, APC and PDP. Whereas the PDP holds sway in Ekiti in Governor Fayose, the All Progressives Congress is in charge in Osun with Governor Rauf Aregbesola runing a second term
