Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State floored the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, at the Supreme Court this morning, WESTERN POST can report.
The apex court held that Oyetola who was the candidate of the APC in the Septemebr 2018 governorship election in the state was duly elected as the governor of the state.
According to WESTERN POST Correspondent at the court, the apex court in a 5 to 2 judgement dismissed Adeleke’s appeal against the judgment of the Court of Appeal which had earlier okayed Oyetola’s election.
The court of appeal had upturned the verdict of the election tribunal which awarded victory to the PDP candidate.
The Supreme Court’s lead judgement was read by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour. Five judges were in support of that judgment, agreeing with the court of appeal, while two dissented.
However, there is a dissenting judgment in the case. The dissenting judgement is being read at present.
