Nigeria’s popular movie director and one of the leading lights in Nollywood, Mr. Chico Ejiro, is dead.
Popularly called Mr. Prolific because of his proficiency directing behind the camera, Ejiro died on Friday Christmas morning reportedly of cardiac arrest.
He was said to be working on a movie project at the time of his death.
Some of the popular movies he had produced included ‘Night Bust to Lagos, ‘Outcast,’ ‘True Romance,’ and ‘Blood Money.’
He was a versatile movie director who doubles as a screenwriter, and producer.
Little is known about Ejiro other than he originally studied agriculture, and he was drawn into video production because Nigerians would not buy blank video cassettes.
According to Wikipedia, Ejiro was born in Isoko area of Delta State. He was married to Joy Ejiro. His brothers are another filmmaker Zeb Ejiro and Peter Red Ejiro.
