Former Minister of Finance, Chief Olu Falae, has just resigned his position as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party. He also announced his decision to quit active politics.

He said his decision is based on health grounds and the crisis rocking the party he created along with others.

SDP has been embroiled in a serious crisis of confidence for sometime now. The party is torn between two presidential candidate, Mr. Donald Duke and Chief Jerry Gana, who have been battling for the party’s ticket and dragged each other to court.

A few days ago, the Court of Appeal ruled the former Cross Rivers State governor, Duke, as the authentic candidate of the party. Gana, the former Information Minister has appealed the decision.

In the middle of this, the party on Thursday said it has endorsed the All Progressives Congress candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, as its candidate for the February 16 election.
