Its ‘now official! The Osun State Governorship Election Appeal panel is to deliver its judgement tomorrow in Abuja.
The panel headed by Justice Sankel had about two weeks ago reserved judgement after hearing from the parties in the case.
Former Chief of Staff in Osun and an insurance guru, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, was declared winner of the governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
It was at the end of the ensuing re-run held in September last year in seven polling stations across three councils in the state. Oyetola is of the All Progressives Congress.
Dissatisfied with the results, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party challenged Oyetola’s victory at the election petitions tribunal, which sat in Abuja.
The tribunal, in a split decision of 2 to 1, gave victory to the PDP candidate. It was one strange configuration as the tribunal chairman was the one who gave the minority judgement as opposed to the leading judgement by the two other members.
Oyetola, however, proceeded to the Court of Appeal to challenge the tribunal verdict.
That appellate court is now due to give its verdict tomorrow in Abuja.
