A lawmaker representing Akinyele/ Lagelu federal constituency of Oyo State in the National Assembly, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, has been shot dead by some suspected political thugs.
It was gathered that Olatoye who lost his attempt to move over to the Senate two weeks ago had voted at his Alape village in Ward 13 Lagelu Local Government Area before he was shot.
A known socialite, Olatoye was immediately rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for treatment.
A report on Television Continental (TVC) indicated that the lawmaker had died.
A source who informed DAILY POST said Olatoye, who won the APC ticket to return to the House of Representatives in 2015, was shot in the eyes.
The source said the lawmaker was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), immediately he was shot.
Olatoye had last year dumped the ruling APC for the Action Democratic Party (ADP) where he ran in the senatorial election held on Saturday 23rd February.
He lost the election to Senator Teslim Folarin of APC.
All efforts by DAILY POST to get reactions of the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olugbenga Fadeyi and Olusegun Oluwole respectively, proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
