The inaugural sitting of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has begun in Abuja as scheduled.
The five-man panel is led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.
According to sources, the panel members entered the courtroom at 10.05am.
One of the petitions pending before the tribunal is the one filed by the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the March election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, challenging the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the election.
Mr. Atiku Abubakar’s running mate, Dr. Peter Obi, was in court to witness the proceedings.
