BREAKING: Robbers Attack Bullion Van In Ibadan, Kill 2 Policemen, Shot Four Civilians (VIDEO)

    Daredevil armed robbers on Thursday afternoon attacked a bullion van in Idi Ape area along  Iwo Road in Ibadan, Oyo State, killing two policemen while four civilians sustained gun shot injuries.

    The civilians, including a woman and a child were hit by stray bullets in their cars.

    An Okada man was also shot by the robbers.

    It was learnt that the robbers fired several shots at the escort van in a bid to intercept the bullion van and cart away the cash.

    Both the escort and the bullion vans were demobilised by the fire power of the robbers, but it was not clear whether they succeeded in carting away the cash.

    Westernpost gathered that one of the robbers was shot dead but his corpse was taken away by his colleagues.

    Banks in the area have since closed down as security agencies including the army pursue the fleeing robbers.

    Meanwhile, Oyo State Police Commissioner, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko  while speaking with newsmen at the scene of the incident confirmed that one of the policemen on excort with the bullion van shot dead one of the robbers.
    She described the incident as  unfortunate saying It was a coordinated attack.
    “We police are still trying to find out what actually happened because they trailed the bullion van from where it took the money from and where it want to dispense it. We could see the shot they made, they were indeed prepared.
    “We can’t actually say what went wrong now. All the exits and borders that leads to Oyo State have all been blocked so we are trying our possible best to get them to know what actually happened,” she said.
