It has emerged that the Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The verdict delivered this morning in Abuja brought to a close the matter of Oyo State governorship election.
Makinde is of the Peoples Democratic Party. He was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. His election was also upheld by the state election petitions tribunal.
The defeated APC governorship candidate in Oyo, Mr Bayo Adelabu, however appealed the tribunal verdict.
The appellate court upheld his prayers but declined to give an order asking Makinde to vacate the seat or call for a fresh election.
Both parties proceeded to Supreme Court, which this morning upheld Makinde’s election.
Th confirmation came just as the apex court also upheld the elections of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and and Abdullahi Sule of Nassarawa State.
Both are of the All Progressives Congress.
