BREAKING: Legendary Singer, Victor Uwaifo, Dies at 80


Guitarist and music maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo (Guitar Boy), is dead.

Uwaifo, the first professional musician to be awarded with the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), celebrated his 80th birthday in March.

A family source said he died after a brief illness.

He was also Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Edo State.

Born on March 1, 1941 in Benin City, Edo State, Prof. Sir Victor Uwaifo was described as a musician, writer, sculptor, musical instrument inventor and University lecturer.

He was good at electric guitar, flute, saxophone, electric piano, percussion and vocals.

Some of his albums included Big Sound, Victor Uwaifo, Hold Your Romeo, Love & Romance, 5 Days A Week Love amongst others.
