Commercial activities in Akure were paralised on Saturday as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and his campaign train stormed the Ondo State capital to canvass votes and offer reasons why he should be elected come February 14, 2015.
At the rally, Buhari said he would prosecute corrupt leaders.
“We will get our money back from them and send them to jail for stealing our money and we will use it to build schools and construct roads,” he said.
Buhari arrived the venue at around 5 pm and spoke for just 3 minutes. The retired general appeared a little weak, apparently from the rigours of the campaigns, as he addressed the crowd.
Meanwhile, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who arrived Democracy Park venue of the rally earlier before Buhari said PDP should be getting ready to pack out of Aso Rock.
Asiwaju Tinubu asked the lovers of the party to vote PDP out in the election and give room for change.
The APC leaders who graced the rally included former National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, present Chairman and former Edo State governor, Chief Odigie Oyegun, Deputy Chairman Segun Oni, Osun State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, ex-governors of Ekiti; Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Dr Kayode Fayemi.
