President Muhammadu Buhari said on Tuesday at the grand finale of the APC campaign for the September 10 Edo Governorship election that the country would soon get over its economic problems the way it is almost getting over its insecurity problems.
“We are almost out of our insecurity problems. We are even already out of it. We will soon get out of our economic problems. We will make Nigeria great again. Our size and resources will work for us,” he said.
He told the mammoth crowd of people at the gathering that as he said 30 years ago, Nigerians don’t have any other country they can call their own and as such must make sure things work in the country.
“Wherever you go, you must come back home as there is no other country you can call your own.
Buhari described the late Oba of Benin as one of the most forthright traditional rulers he has ever seen.
The president recommended the APC governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, to Edo people, describing him a seasoned technocrat.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole used the rally to condemn the PDP governorship candidate, Ize Iyamu, saying he was not worthy of the governorship office.
The party’s governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, said he accepted to run for the governorship because of President Buhari, because of the good example being laid by the president.
He promised to continue in the good work of Governor Oshiomhole if elected.

The well-attended rally was attended by APC Chairman John Oyegun APC National Working Committee members, and APC Governors Akinwunmi Ambode, Aminu Tambuwal, Abubakar Badaru, Yahaya Bello and Nasir el-Rufai among others,
Ambode who is the Chairman of the party’s National Finance Committee for the election described Obaseki as a trust-worthy person.
Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige spoke in Igbo to appeal to Igbo voters in Edo, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola spoke to appeal to Yoruba voters and Tambuwal to all Arewa voters for them to back Obaseki.
However conspicuously absent at the grand campaign were APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, his Oyo and Ogun states counterparts, Senators Abiola Ajimobi and Ibikunle Amosun.
