President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday inaugurated Osogbo High School building project in Osun State just as he assured Nigerians that everything would be done by the present administration to mitigate their pains and instill integrity on all sectors in the land.
He also disclosed that the present war on corruption is to instill fiscal discipline in governance and to ensure integrity, discipline in government business.
The school building which will accommodate 3,000 students has 72 classrooms, six Laboratories, sixty toilets for boys and girls, one bookshop,one Library, four principal offices and a multi-purpose hall capable of sitting 1,000 students and Olympic size Football field.
While speaking in Osogbo during his one-day working visit to the state Thursday, President Buhari said the
Federal Government is aware of the present pains being undergone by Nigerians in the last one and half years, assuring that his administration is on track to rescue the nation from the past mistakes and make Nigeria great
” Changes are never achieved on the bed of roses but through steadfastness, dedication, integrity, the country shall be rescue and make prosperous again.
” What we are trying to do since is to introduce all ingredients in the change mantra on the individual levels but change takes perseverance, endurance, dedication to achieve.”
The President maintained that efforts were in place by his administration to achieve its desired goals, adding that the administration is not resting on its oars to quacking the rate of development in the states across the country
He disclosed that the federal government is helping the states to overcome their teething problems, stressing that help to states shall continue until all challenges are overcome.
Buhari said his government had devoted ten percent of the entire budget to the education sector to show the priority of the government, saying his desire is to see the country maintaining its high tempo in education as it was in the past.
“All Progressives Congress (APC) government is set to make education in Nigeria qualitative as promised in our manifesto. We are desired to tackle the rot in the education sector, so also, other sectors in the country.”
He described the inaugurated schools as monumental, calling on other states across the federation to key into this and take education to greater height in Nigeria.
“Osogbo High School being commissioned is a legacy of Gov. Rauf Aregbesola’s administration. It is three schools in one place. The economy is unquantifiable and worthy of emulation by other states”.
He commended the state government and the people of the state for supporting his government, saying that four times he had come to the state and all the had given him support, adding that efforts were in top gear for Osun State to achieve its desired goals among the comity of states.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola disclosed that N1.35 billion was spent to put the edifice in place.
He added that it has seventy-two classrooms, each capable of sitting 49 students at once.
Gov. Aregbesola also added that one thousand, six hundred and ninety four schools across the state have been renovated, positing that the present effort of the government is to pursue economic development and lift lives
of students in the land.
” Education is life and this shall be pursued by this administration. All the new schools is to provide good and conducive environment for learning for pupils in the state. It is not just to develop the brain, but to alleviate poverty of our people “.
He therefore commended the president for salvaging the country from collapsing, adding that since the taking over of President Buhari, he has not failed Nigerians.
“The problem President Muhammadu Buhari is presently facing in the North as per the Boko Haram issue and the.militancy in the South is that of the people who believe that the country should be conquered and plundered “.
He urged Nigerians to support President Buhari in tackling all the problems bedeviling the country, saying that Nigeria can be great again.
Governors at the occasion included Alhaji Kashim Shetima of Borno, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.
Some traditional rulers present at the event included Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran; Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Olanipekun, Olubadan of Ibadan and Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi among others.
Other dignitaries in attendance were Senator Sola Adeyeye, Alhaji Kamil Olatunde Badmus, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Obasa, Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Najeem Salam, and Senator Babajide Omoworare.
