The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, is among the host of dignitaries expected to grace the 2017 Democracy Day Lecture being organised by the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Adeiza Momoh Jimoh, and Secretary, Seidu Adamu. They said the event is fixed for June 1 and 2 at the Confluence Beach Hotels, Lokoja.
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello would be the Distinguished Guest of Honour while a former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr. Tom Adaba, is to chair the event.
The statement added that the event would feature presentation of papers by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu; Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (rtd); the Sole Administrator of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Engr. Joseph Onobere, while the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, is expected to deliver a keynote address at the event.
It noted that media executives expected to grace the event would include NUJ National President, Comrade Waheed Odusile, Mrs Eugenia Abu of the NTA, FRCN Zonal Director, Ibadan, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, Zainab Okino of the Blueprint Newspaper, former SSA Media to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Tunde Olusunle, Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho of the Federal Housing Authority, Abuja and Mrs. Funke Egbemode, President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
According to the statement, the media executives would be led on a tour of government’s projects and historical sites within Lokoja metropolis on June 2.
