Sporadic shootings have erupted in Okoja, a town in Ikare Akoko, Ondo State over a chieftaincy title.
Residents have deserted the town for safety over the Olokoja of Okoja chieftaincy dispute, which degenerated into a serious pandemonium.
A community leader, who spoke with our reporter, said all efforts to reach the State Commissioner of Police and the commanding officer of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure was not successful.
The residents urged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to prevail on the security operatives to act appropriately to further prevent loss of lives in the commercial town.
Western Post, however, gathered that policemen and soldiers were seen on Tuesday morning in the town in a move to restore law and order.
