Chelsea FC manager, Antonio Conte has been sacked with fellow Italian Maurizio Sarri set to be appointed as new manager imminently.
It would be recalled that the Italian had led The Blues to win Premier League title just one year ago in what was his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea struggled last season, missing out on Champions League qualification with a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Conte, however, won the FA Cup for Chelsea in his last game to end the season with a trophy. But that was not enough to retain his position.
The Italian’s long-term future at Chelsea had been in doubt for months after appearing to publicly criticise the club’s transfer policy.
Though his departure has not been confirmed by Chelsea, UK Independent reports that Conte had refused to walk away unless the final year of his three-year contract was paid up in full and even returned to take pre-season training which began on Monday, July 9.
But a compensation agreement was finally reached on Thursday, July 12 with Sarri set to be announced as his replacement shortly.
The report added that Sarri will be joined by former Blues striker and club legend Gianfranco Zola who is set to join as part of a new-look backroom team.
