Chief Judge Swears in David Onoja As Kogi State New Deputy Governor

A new Deputy Governor, Edward David Onoja has been sworn in to replace the embattled former Deputy governor, Simon Achuba who was impeached by the House of House Assembly on Friday.

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah administered the oath of office on the new deputy governor at executive chamber of  Government House in Lokoja on Monday.

Earlier in the morning ,the House of Assembly has approved and confirmed the appointment of Edward Onoja as the new deputy governor of Kogi State after he was asked to bow and go.

They later moved to the executive chamber for the official swearing ceremony immediately ,where he was confirmed as the substantive deputy governor of Kogi State.

Responding, the new Deputy Governor, Edward Onaja has lauded the State governor, Governor Yahaya Bello for his unflinching support and found him worthy to be his deputy governor.

He, therefore, pledged that he would continue to work for unity, peace, progress, and development of Kogi state and Nigeria in general.

Onoja also commended the immediate past Deputy governor Simon Achuba for quickening his destiny to get this job.

He praised Almighty God for witnessing this day, stressing that all glory is to the lord for this great opportunity to serve the people of the state in a better capacity.

Until his new appointment, Onaja was the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. He is a graduate of Geology and had a stint with oil and gas industry in Port Harcourt in River State and later joined banking industry served in GTB and Access Bank respectively. Onoja was born 1974 , married with children.

He has been inactive politics since 2011 when he contested for House of Assembly seat for Olamaboro State constituency seat .

It would be recalled that the impeached Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba had on Sunday described his impeachment as legal, unconstitutional,  null and void  .

Achuba who harped on faulty procedure, further said that the panel has not found him wanting or implicated for wrongdoings why impeachment? asked rhetorically.

He however disclosed that he had instructed his legal counsel to seek redress in the court of competent jurisdiction .
