Immediate past speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has admonished Christians to make use of the yuletide to offer ceaseless prayers for the country as the nation passes through its trying periods.
Ahmad said the call became imperative owing to various happenings within the nooks and crannies of the country, which clearly shows that all is not well with Nigeria at the moment.
The former speaker’s call was contained in his Christmas message to Christians issued by his media aide, Abdul Dan Bawa in Ilorin on Wednesday, urging them to be modest in celebration.
While congratulating Christians for witnessing the 2019 celebration of Christ’s birth, he enjoined the faithful use the occasion to reflect on Jesus Christ’s lifestyle and ways of dealing with adherents of other religions.
The former lawmaker noted that the celebration could not have come at a better time than now, adding that they should emulate Christ by promoting peaceful co-existence, love, and unity of purpose at all times.
According to the statement, it is a celebration of the personality of Jesus Christ, he lived a life worthy of emulation not only for Christians but the world at large.
It is a season that calls for celebration and importantly model our lives after Jesus Christ. We should love one another unconditionally and promote peace always.
The former speaker, however, called on philanthropists and well-meaning individuals in the society to endeavour to share the moment of joy with the less privileged as a way of giving them a sense of belonging.
