Sir, I write to commend the Federal Road Safety Commission and its new boss, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, for canceling the deadline for collection of new number plates. Mr. Oyeyemi said the commission would abide by the court order and won’t enforce the deadline again. He said the FRSC would ask vehicle owners to get new number plates when they come to renew their vehicle licence. I think that’s the way it should be. It’s that way in most developed world. They don’t just slam a time-frame when they come out with new vehicle number plates or new currencies. The new one exists side by side the old one until the old one is completely phased out. But Mr. Oyeyemi deserves kudos for what he has done nonetheless. Its a sign that more interesting things will come from the FRSC. Thank you Mr. Oyeyemi.
