The African Action Congress (AAC) Ondo State has condemned the recent discovery of N4.3billion found in Zenith Bank Plc bearing the name of the Ondo State Government, and the unconstitutional usage of the discovered public fund.

The State Chairman of the Party, Comrade Israel Ayeni condemned the act of misappropriating public treasury.

They called on Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and all related Commissions to synergize with the Ondo State House of Assembly (ODHA) to properly investigate the said account and unveil the secret intentions of the discovered fund.

“Misappropriation of public funds is an element of bad governance, this can impoverish the State if not checked”, he said.

The account which was said to be traced back to former Governor Olusegun Kokumo Agagu’s led administration of over a decade from now is questionable!

The party also challenged the competence of the Accountant General of the State as well as the Office of the Commissioner for Finance for not providing all necessary documents bearing all transactions made with the account, and interest accrued to date. When and what was the purpose of opening the “secret account”, who are the signatories, and why was it made secret even to the Legislative Arm of the State?

The party hereby called for the immediate provision of the statement of transactions made through the account from inception to date.
