Residents of Saw-Mill, Ilorin West local government area of Kwara State could not sleep on Tuesday due to a clash that ensued between members of an alleged secret cult and some youths in the vicinity.
The clash eventually claimed an innocent life of a young man identified as Wasiu
Wasiu during his lifetime was a bricklayer who rode motorcycle at night and usually parked at Sawmill garage junction.
Western Post gathered that the alleged cultists known for forcefully take over residents valuables like phone, cash among others was challenged by one Fatai in his usual way so to retrieve the valuables to the owners, went wrong on that fateful night.
This made the alleged cults trailed him (Fatai) to his house at Sawmill garage but fortunately, he wasn’t at home, the alleged cults according to the eyewitness was furious and began to shot sporadically, which led to a stray bullet hitting the deceased.
The deceased has since Wednesday buried in an Islamic way.
Meanwhile, the vicinity was a shadow of itself devoid of normal hustle and bustle as residents and shop owners were under locked when our correspondent in Ilorin visited.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the death of the casualty when Western post contacted him on Wednesday morning.
“I am yet to have details of the incident but life was actually lost. I will confirm and get back to you,” he said.
