The Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government, Otu ,Oyo State, Mr. Adeniji Olarinre Adisa, has been commended for putting the welfare of his people first in all his programmes.
The commendation was given by a community leader from Ward Three, Ipapo, Pa Hussein Akinleye, when the Chairman presented a sum on N200,000 for the health need of Master Damilare Olaniyi.
Olaniyi’s mother, Mrs. Bunmi Olaniyi, had approached the council boss a few weeks ago for assistance to enable Master Olaniyan undergo a major abdominal operation to clear esophageal blockage, laparatomy at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
According to Pa Akinleye: “Our Chairman has shown that leadership is all about putting people first. I am so happy that the Chairman allows himself and his office to be used in bringing smile to the faces of the whole Olaniyi family. We hope that other in position of authority will emulate this kind gesture”.
Speaking during the presentation at the conference room of the local government, the council boss said he was only following the footsteps of the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, in supporting the needy.
He said: “The governor has given us the mandate to cater for the need of our people. Our party, All Progressives Congress, APC, is all about the downtrodden. We will walk and run with the people and will never be weary. Our regime in Itesiwaju is taking care of so many people with critical condition. For instance, we have been taking care of a woman who had a kidney transplant for about a year now.”
The mother of the boy, Mrs. Bunmi Olaniyi, thanked the council helmsman for giving her son hope of a better life.
She said the council had been taking care of the boy’s need even before now.
She added: “The Chairman came to our rescue when all hope were lost. This is because we have spent a lot on Damilare as this will not be his first operation. My prayer is that GOD will continue to bless the Chairman and his entire household with good health”.
Some of the elders of the area who attended the presentation included Bale Agbe, Alhaji Sakariyau Mustafa and the Chairman of Oyo State Board of Technical and Vocational Education, Deacon Adebimpe Afolabi.
They urged other leaders to emulate the good deeds of Olarinre. Others in attendance were the Secretary, Mr. Sola Kolajo, committee member Mrs. Abigail Aremu, the Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Adeniji, the party chairman, Mr. Jimoh Amuda, and the Head of local Government Administration, Elder Jacob Oyelami
