… As 35 memoranda submitted

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed that a girl child less than 18-year-old should not be involved in marriage.

At the public hearing on constitution review in  Akure, the Ondo State capital, CAN, in its submitted memorandum by its Ondo State chapter chairman, Rev Dr Ago Oladapo said that the committee should take it as part of the papers submitted that no girl child less than 18 years of age should be made to indulge in marriage.

“CAN as a body is submitting that any girl child of less than 18 should not be encouraged into marriage line, ” he said

The clergyman also emphasized that local government autonomy should be considered so as to bring government nearer to the people.

The Association did not leave a stone unturned on the issue of Sharia law that was injected into the constitution for a section or a particular zone of the country, saying such section of the law should be removed for equity and justice.

Also, the Committee  Chairman, Hon. Peter Ohio Zojeh confirmed that 35 memoranda have so far been received across the southwest comprising Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun states.
