Controversial Senator Buruji Kashamu to Face Rerun

Controversial Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East Senatorial District will have to face rerun election as his election has been annulled by the election Petitions Tribunal in Ogun State which ordered a rerun within 90-days.

The tribunal on Friday also annulled the election of Honourable Adekoya Adesegun, a member of House of Representatives from Ijebu East /Ijebu North /Ogun waterside, as well as five others in the state House of Assembly over election irregularities.

The verdict of the tribunal has drawn mixed reactions in the state, with some expressing surprise at the judgement and others saying the verdict was in order.

Kashamu has been in the news lately over matters bordering on drug deals for which the NDLEA tried but failed to enforce his extradition to the United States to answer to charges of illicit drug dealings.

The move was perpetrated in the dying days of President Goodluck Jonathan regime, his former ally he later fell out with.

Kashamu, also known as Eso Jinadu, has been a frontline socialite and staunch member of the PDP in Ogun State with strong influence in the South West.

He has been involved in altercations with prominent politicians from the South West zone including former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was the Chairman Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-west and the defacto leader of the party in the zone.
