Council Boss Charges Community Leaders, Parents To Join Hands To Tackle Insecurity

The Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government area of Oyo State, Honourable Yusuff Oladayo has called on community leaders and parents to join hands in the fight against the high spate of insecurity bedeviling the state and the council area in particular.

He said the only collective effort could checkmate the ugly trend.

The council boss who was speaking on measures put in place by his administration to improve the lives of youths and women in his council area, said the development has become so worrisome, adding that youths between the ages of 15 and 16  are seriously involved in robbery and other forms of criminal acts in our society.

According to him,  local security and vigilante groups in Ibadan North local government area recently apprehended some of these young boys in the act and turned them over to security agency for further action.

Hon Oladayo who is fondly addressed as ‘Agba Egbe’ said it was high time community leaders and parents joined hands in the task of combating the menace in order to set the record straight in the security sector in the state.

He said his administration is working on security post that will aid quick intervention on security matters in the council area.

“Security is a collective task and we are working assiduously to ensure we deal with this menace which has bedeviled our people over sometimes now.

“We are not resting on our oars in this regards, that is why we are calling on community leaders and parents to work on their children and wards in order to stem the development”

The council boss while urging the people to be very vigilant admonished parents to warn their children on criminal matters and also monitor them on the kinds of friends they keep.

“I also want to urge landlords and agents who rent house to people to be very careful the kind of people they rent their house to. They should not look at the money alone but security and peace of their respect community and the people.”

He urged youths in the council  to desist from acts capable of destroying their future, saying they should spend their time on quality things that will earn them  peace and good name.

He said his administration has embarked on empowerment measures for the people of the council, adding that  he has  given forms  on free training on different vocations to the youths  adding that he has also  sponsored some students on photographic training and others.
