The battle over who occupies the 22 local government secretariats in Rivers state took another dimension this morning following a judgment by the National Industrial Court, sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital to reinstate the All Progressives Congress LG chairmen sacked by a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt in Rivers state.
The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police to provide security for the chairmen to get back their position, pending substantive hearing of the case.
The case was adjourned till October 5, 2015.
The 22 Local government chairmen were relieved of their duties by Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike following a Federal High Court ruling in Port Harcout but the aggrieved council chairmen approached a National industrial court in Bayelsa seeking to reverse the Federal High court ruling.
It would be recalled that last Thursday, Justice Lambo Akanbi of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt sacked the 22 duly elected LG Chairmen and Councillors.
