A Magistrates’ Court in Egor, Benin, has ordered one Chukwudi Nawkor, 28, to be remanded in prison custody for allegedly defiled a 2-year old girl.
Chief Magistrate Igho Braimoh gave the order following a plea of not guilty by the accused person, who is facing a one-count charge of defilement.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Aburimen Akhere, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 24 at No. 13, Egharevba Street, Off Uwelu Road, Benin.
Akhere alleged that the accused did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one minor.
According to the prosecutor, the minor was attracted by the children’s song playing the accused room.
He said when the child came out from the accused room her body was full of seamen.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 218 of the Criminal Code.
If found guilty, he is liable on conviction to imprisonment for life with or without caning.
