Court Remands Suspected Cultist for Alleged Murder, Theft

A 25-year-old man, Agbebunmi Biodun has been ordered to be remanded in Correctional centre by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for alleged murder and theft.

The Police  prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun told the court that the accused committed the offence on the 25th of May, 2018 at about 7:00pm at Idasa area, Ilesa, Osun State.

Olusegun also informed the court that the accused did unlawfully shoot one Adesoye Adekunle to death with a gun.

He further alleged that Biodun did armed himself with guns and other dangerous weapons and rob one Fadipe Abayomi of two bottles of Hennessy drink valued N24,000 and a   cash sum of N18,000.

He said that on 18th of May, 2020 at about 1:00pm in Ede, the accused person did conspire among themselves being a member of the unlawful society and engage himself in a secret cult known as Eiye Confraternity cult group.

The  offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Section 6(b), punishable under section 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms ( Special Provisions) Act Cap RI vol. 14 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and Section 324, 319(1) and 64(a) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. ll Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The plea of accused person who is represented by his Defence Counsel, Kehinde Adepoju  was not taken by the court

The Magistrate, Olubunmi  Ajanaku order the  remand of  the accused in Ilesa Correctional Center

She thereby adjourned the matter till 21st of July, 2020 and transferred the case  to Ilesa Magistrate court for mention.
