A Kano High Court has issue an order restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Comission, EFCC from arresting former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Delivering the preliminary ruling, Justice Mohammed Yahaya ordered the operatives of EFCC and the embattled former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit before it.
Barrister Okechukwu Eze, counsel to Kwankwaso, Wednesday, told the High court that EFCC threat of arrest of the former Governor has confined him to his residence in Abuja. stressing that development has hinder his client from performing his legislative duties as a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Okechukwu Eze said that “my client has been in his house over the threat of arrest by the EFCC and have been denied the liberty to perform his legislative duties as mandated by voters of Kano central District. ”
He prayed the court to restrain the Anti corruption Agency from arresting the former Kano Governor who is now Senator representing Kano central, his prayer was however considered by the High court which order the Economic and Financial Crimes commission to maintain status quo pending the determination of the suit.
