COVID-19: Akoko Communities Under Threat over Almajiris’ Invasion

Owing to its proximity to the Northern part of Nigeria, residents of Akoko areas of Ondo state are under apprehension over the invasion of their communities by some street urchins called almajiris from Kano State.

At Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-east Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday, WESTERN POST witnessed another large invasion of the almajiris where they were seen alerting from trucks loaded with bags of beans at the popular Oja-Onisu.

However, the residents of the area did not waste time in raising the alarm over the unwanted visitors as they were alighting from the trucks.

Our correspondent who was at the town when the incident happened, gathered that the almajiris were happy and delighted seeing their colleagues who had been on the ground before their arrival.

Some residents of the town were also assembling themselves to know the next step of action. They were working on contacting the police with a view to sending the almajiris back the way they came to the town before too long.
