The executive governor of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has extended the lockdown by one week till May 31st, 2020.
This is the fourth time the state government will be announcing COVID-19 lockdown in the state.
He lamented the flagrant disobedience of the laydown rules and regulations in the state.
Governor Abiodun stated this in a press conference held at Governor office Oke Mosan, Abeokuta on Friday night.
He explained that its has been observed that all measures been taken by the government to stems the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes restriction of movement, wearing a face mask, and caring of limited passengers by the commercial motor operators are to obeyed.
“There is still high rate of disobedience by the peoples of Ogun State,” he said.
The Governor said he has no options than to extend the lockdown by another one week, which will end on May 31st, 2020.
However, he announced that the rate of the spread of the pandemic has reduced drastically, stressing that the state has not recorded any mortality in the last one week.
The governor Abiodun, therefore urged the citizens to abide by the rules and regulations biding the spread of the pandemic since prevention is better than cure.
