The Obong Iberedem Akwa Ibom in Oyo State, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Etim Bassey Akanyak (ARSM) has urged Akwa Ibomites in the state to comply and cooperate with the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on safety measures against the dreaded coronavirus.
He also admonished them to obey and comply with the stay at home order by the government in order to keep themselves safe from the pandemic.
The Monarch in a statement said the people need to consider their health and safety at this very crucial time, saying the dreaded virus has continued to claim more lives all over the world by the day.
“I urge you to cooperate with the directives of the state governor by staying at home and by observing all the safety measures. You also have to maintain high level of hygiene at this point in time and be careful what you touch and who comes around you because you never can tell who is the victim around you.”
According to him, the stay at home order became necessary as a way of preventing the virus from spreading and infecting more people through close contact at work, market place and other social gatherings.
The Obong assured the people that the state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde is working very hard to ensure that the virus did not have its way in the state hence the 7pm to 6pm curfew, stay at home order among other measures.
While commending efforts of the federal and state government on the development, the monarch also urged them to seek the face of God through intensive prayers to conquer the deadly virus ravaging people all the world.
