The Kwara State chapter of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Alumni Association has expended a total amount of N300,000 to provide succour to about 100 households in the state.
The State Chapter Chairman, Alhaji Abdullateef Adebowale, said the aim of the palliative distribution was for the Association to help in cushioning hardship faced during the pandemic.
Adebowale was represented at the presentation ceremony by the Secretary, Mr Lanre Ahmed in Ilorin on Monday.
In his address, Chairman welfare and palliative committee of the Association, Mr Babatunde Salam disclosed that food items would be given to the less privileged in the society as their little contribution to help the community.
Beneficiaries of the gesture include widows, orphans, people living with disability and the unemployed.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ibrahim Ajadi commended the Association for the kind gesture and called on other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate it.
The Kwara state Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who is also a member of Association, Mr. Ale Bello and other members attended the programme.
Items distributed include Rice, Semovita, Vegetable oil and tomato paste.
