The Commissioner, Kogi State Ministry of Health, Dr Saka Audu. on Monday urged residents to go about their legitimate businesses, saying the government is on top of the situation in respect of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.
In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Danlami Mohammed, on behalf of the commissioner, in Lokoja, urged the residents not to panic that they were on top of the situation.
The Federal Ministry of Health on Thursday announced confirmation of one case of Coronavirus in Lagos State.
According to the Commissioner, this is not the time to panic but time to adopt a positive healthy behavior that keeps us safe and protected.
”The Ministry of Health is on top of the situation and encourages members of the public to go about their legitimate business.
”This is not the time to panic but time to adopt a positive healthy behavior that keeps us safe and protected”, he said.
He advised the people to adopt some preventive tips, such as: regular and thorough washing of hands with soap and water and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
”Maintain at least 1.5m (5 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing, persons with persistent cough and sneezing should stay home and avoid mixing in-crowd.
”Maintain good respiratory hygiene by covering mouth and nose with a handkerchief or tissue then dispose of the used tissue immediately,” he said.
The commissioner urged that anybody who felt unwell with symptoms like fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing, to stay at home while advising them not to engage in self-medication.
He added: ”Report any suspected case to the State Ministry of Health. We wish our citizens well at all time”.
