Cult Clash Claims Three Persons in Osun State

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

No fewer than three persons have been reportedly killed in Ilesa, Osun State during a cult clash.

It was gathered that the clash started about five days ago between Eiye and Aiye cult groups and has since been resulting in the killings of the cultists by rival groups.

The flashpoints where the cultists have been engaging in free for all were, Irojo, Orogba, Iroye, Anaye, Igbaye and Ikoti among others.

It was further gathered that the clash, was triggered by a reprisal attack following the killing of a member of one of the cult groups in an early clash that occurred about a month ago.

According to a source, “There is palpable fear in Ilesa as we speak. I can confirm that the two groups have been dropping members of their rival groups but I can’t confirm the number of those killed.

“It started about five days ago, and nobody has been able to walk freely or sleep with their two eyes closed as a result of the clash”.

While confirming the clash, the Police Public Relations Officer, Folasade Odoro said that only three persons were feared dead in the attacks.

She said the command has swung into action and that normalcy has returned to the town.
