Cultural Festival, Factor For Traditional Integration – Otun


‎Cultural Festival has been described as a means of promoting, revitalising, unifying traditional heritage and sustaining cultural values to the future generations.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Selimot Otun stated this at the 2019 World Sango Day Festival, held at the Palace of the Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, Oyo.

Alhaja Otun said the various traditional festivals being celebrated in different States of the country, had gone a long way at ensuring that the rich cultural heritage of the people, especially Yorubas, does not go into extinction.

‎“The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun sends his felicitation on this occasion, he recognises and appreciates the role of the king at ensuring that Yoruba land remains united in promoting and sustaining the culture of the people”, Otun stated.

In his remark, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, disclosed that the World Sango Festival was one of the most ancient traditional and major festivals of the Yoruba race, adding that it remained a socio-cultural mechanism to foster unity, sense of belonging and the common identity of the Yoruba people for social development.
