The National Leader of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday said the time for the debate about which zone would produce the president in 2023 is not now.
Asiwaju Tinubu spoke at Aso Rock Presidential Villa after a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari for the New Year.
He said debate about which zone of the country should produce the next president would distract President Buhari who has just been elected for a second term.
Tinubu commended the president on his New Year letter to Nigerians. He said only an unserious politician would doubt the commitment of the president to quit the stage in 2023 saying the Buhari he knows would never think about a third term.
He said the president was focused on combating security, revamping the economy and fighting corruption.
Tinubu said discussing 2023 presidency would distract the government from providing people-oriented services such as roads, and other development agenda of the administration.
