Defection: Crisis Rocks Ondo Assembly As Plan To Impeach Deputy Gov. Falls

It was a drama on Tuesday in the cabinet of Ondo  State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu when he sacked the six aides of his Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.

Minutes later, the Deputy Governor announced their reinstatement and ordered that they should resume work immediately at their various duty posts.

The media aide to the Deputy Governor, Babatope Okeowo, who was announced to have been sacked was reappointed immediately by the Deputy Governor and issued a statement to that effect from the office of the Deputy Governor.

However, the assembly members met also on Tuesday at the office quarters of the speaker of the state House of Assembly, in Alagbaka, having known that heavily armed policemen have taken over the complex along Igbatoro to prevent foreseen contingency that is about befallen the state.

The honourable members decided to change the venue to the official residence of the Speaker, Hon Oleyeloogun at Alagbaka.

Meanwhile, the basic agenda was to plan the impeachment process, but the loyalists of the Deputy Governor, numbering 12, disagreed.

One of the diehard men of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Success representing ilaje area of the state threw up the dust and made it clear that, once the process of impeachment of the Deputy Governor is discussed, then that of the governor should follow.

Other loyalists of the Deputy Governor raised the dust to that effect and it was brought to a halt pending when another modus Operandi would be adopted.
