Drown Corps Member to be Buried Today in Akure

The National Youth Service (NYSC) Corps member, Ibrahim Okanlawon, who died in Saturday’s boat mishap shortly after the House of Assembly election in Ondo State, will be buried today (Monday).

The Public Relations Officer of the NYSC in Ondo State, Mr Simeon Bankole, said the deceased would be buried in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Ibrahim Okanlawon who was an electoral Officer at Arogbo Ward 02 in the state died in a boat mishap while seven others sustained various degree of injuries.

The death was caused by boat capsize that the INEC officials boarded after voting exercise closed in the community.

It was gathered that the boat capsized occurred around 7:pm Saturday evening.

It was also gathered that Okanlawon did not put on his life-jacket given them to wear for safety before the ugly incident.

Bankole explained that the family of the late corps member were on their way from Abeokuta where Okanlawon hailed from.

The NYSC Spokesman, however, added that statement would be issued to that effect as soon as the burial arrangement was concluded.
