The Directorate of State Service has arrested former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Sylva who succeeded President Goodluck Jonathan as Bayelsa governor has been having a running battle with the President who blocked his re-election in 2011.
The former governor is now a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa.
He was arrested on a day the Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign rally was organised in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
It was not immediately clear last night why the former Bayelsa governor was arrested.
All efforts to reach the Deputy Director of SSS in charge of Information Maryln Ogar were unsuccessful.
APC Spokesman Alhaji Lai Mohammed promised to issue a statement on the arrest.
