The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has urged Nigerians, Christians in particular, to imbibe and emulate the spirit of love, sacrifice and forgiveness displayed by Jesus Christ during his lifetime.
Obasa stated that these qualities are essential in nation building and socio-economic growth and development of any society.
The Lagos Assembly Speaker’s message was contained in a statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Musbau Rasak, to rejoice with Christians and Nigerians on the Easter celebrations.
“Jesus Christ was an embodiment of love throughout his life time. He preached forgiveness throughout and even displayed such on the cross. To cap it all, he eventually sacrificed his life for his people. These are essential qualities for us to imbibe and practice for us to grow as a nation and achieve greatness,” Obasa, who is also the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said.
He expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their support and prayers for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government at national and state level, saying the party would not relent in reciprocating the support and prayers by putting in place programmes and projects that will enhance their standard of living and improve their welfare.
“We, in the APC, appreciate the prayers and support of Nigerians for our administration at all levels. I want to assure you that we will continue reciprocate the prayers and support by putting in place programmes and projects that will improve the standard of living of our people and enhance their welfare,” he said.
“On behalf of my colleagues in the Lagos State Assembly, I wish Nigerians, especially, Christians, a happy Easter celebration,” the Lagos Assembly Speaker said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1, in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olusola Sokunle, had tasked Nigerians to be tolerant and as well imbibe the spirit of love, care and forgiveness.
Sokunle in a statement issued in Oshodi on Sunday from his Media Office, urged Nigerians to show affection towards each other, saying that it will further help in unifying the country as a nation.
The Lawmaker stated that Nigerians should not lose hope in the leadership of the country, assuring them that the economy would develop beyond their expectations in few months to come.
Sokunle explained that the economic challenges which the country may be facing would soon be a thing of the past under the current All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.
“There is no country that is developed today which had not passed through the challenges stage, so I am certainly sure that the economic situation would change for better within short period of time. APC as the ruling party is working hard to take Nigeria to the next level and we are getting there soon”, said Sokunle.
He stated that he would continue to represent the interest of his constituents with utmost good faith, saying that he would never stop empowering the youths of the constituency.
“My constituents and constituency are first to me as their representative in the House and so all that is needed to ensure that they are not shortchanged interms of dividends of democracy will be exercised. More state projects would be facilitated to the constituency, that I am sure”, said Sokunle.
He, however, enjoined Nigerians to continue to pray for the leadership for God’s guidance, saying that as they celebrate Easter they should continue to promote peace among themselves.
