Economic activities have once again commenced on the popular Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Lokoja following the repaired of the damaged portion of road in past five months .
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State disclosed this end while temporarily declaring the road open for motorists and other commercial purposes.
Bello explained that the portion of road at SUBEB area was damaged as result of heavy down pour of rain last year and subsequently was over flown with flood which dogged the middle of the road and rendered the road in deplorable conditions .
He stated that due to the importance of the road in the capital city, disclosed that the Ministry of Works had swung into action to rehabilitate the bad portion to enable the road users pass through Taiwo Road.
“We are reopening the road temporarily pending the time the government will put asphalt on it . The road had been closed in past five months.
“This has affected commercial activities as the road was closed as a result of the damaged portion.
“With what have done now Taiwo Road has been reopened for commercial activities again,” he noted.
It would be recalled that barely 24 hours after inauguration of New State Executive Council , the newly appointed Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abubakar Ohere had declared zero tolerance for pot holes in the State capital.
He therefore visited the bad portion of the road and mobilized contractor to fix the road immediately .
