Former Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan and reknowned columnist, Mr. Reuben Abati, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was not clear on Monday night why Abati was arrested but it was learnt that the ex-presidential spokesman is being questioned as part of a wide probe into the misappropriation of funds earmarked to purchase arms for the military in the fight against terror.
Abati was alleged to have received money from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is also being tried for misappropriating the funds among other charges.
A few former aides and ministers who served under President Jonathan are known to have been detained.
Among them are former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who was former campaign spokesperson to Jonathan.
