Ahead of their double-header friendly match against Egypt in Kaduna, the Golden Eaglets were in fine form on Saturday following a flattering 7-0 win against Abuja-based Super Stars Academy at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja.
There were two goals each for new boys Chinedu Madueke, Ebere Osinachi while Chukwuwueze Samuel, Chinonye Eugene and Anas Mohammed also added their names to the scoring sheet.
Eaglets’ coach Emmanuel Amuneke (MON) praised the efforts of his experimental side complete with new recruits while commending the overall performance of the old and new players.
“We are impressed with the response of the new players because some of them are not yet used to our style but they did well,” he said.” “I’m particularly happy with the way we played though there is always room for improvement; and the fact that most of the goals were scored by the new players showed that we are making good progress and this would certainly, build their confidence against Egypt.”
New boys Chukwuwueze and Madueke actually scored two quick goals with barely 10 minutes into the game as the Golden Eaglets showed more appetite with their offensive style. Chukwuwueze, meanwhile, could have added another goal in the 34th minute but his fine effort was held by Ebuka in goal for the Super Stars. Madueke was back in the hunt again with few minutes later when he latched on a precise pass from Anas Muhammed to end the first half 3-0 in favour of the Eaglets.
On resumption of the second half, Coach Amuneke added new faces and Chinonye Eugene brought more verve into the attack as his combination with Chukwueze electrify the arena which had in attendance, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, the founder of Niger Delta People’s Volunteer (NDPV).
