The Director-General of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Mr. Bimbo Daramola, has declared that the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2014 governorship election is still open for any interested aspirant.
Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, the House of Representatives member said the fact that Governor Fayemi had collected the APC nomination form did not preclude any other person from seeking the party’s ticket.
According to him, Fayemi would still be regarded as an aspirant until the party chooses its candidate on April 12 at a special congress of the party.
“Dr. Kayode Fayemi has collected our party’s nomination form and has thrown his hat into the ring. He is still an aspirant in the party until our special congress is held. We are working for him because we believe he is the best man for the job.
“Anybody who feels he/she wants to challenge him can throw his/her hat into the ring. Our party is democratic and we don’t kill people’s dreams and ambitions but we don’t also condone indiscipline,”he said.
Daramola also promised the people of the state that the Fayemi-led administration would consolidate on the numerous achievements recorded in the last four years.
“The people of the state have seen the great job Governor Fayemi is doing in the state and are ready to reciprocate the gesture by returning him for a second term in office,” he said.
He promised an issue-based campaign and appealed to other parties to do same, saying there was no need for violence.
